Harry Hollingsworth has practiced public relations in Atlanta since 1973. He began his professional career as a staff writer for the Durham (N.C.) Morning Herald in 1964 while in school at the University of North Carolina. After graduating from UNC's School of Journalism in 1966, he served on active duty as a public affairs officer in the U.S. Air Force until 1973. He retired from the Air Force Reserve in 1994 with the rank of lieutenant colonel.
As a public relations professional in Atlanta, he has held senior management positions with the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, The First National Bank of Atlanta (now Wachovia of Georgia), Manning, Selvage & Lee/Atlanta and Pringle Dixon Pringle. From 1992 through 1994 he was a partner with HHH Public Relations. He founded the partnership of Hollingsworth, Colborne & Associates in December 1994.
In 1990 he was elected to the Order of the Phoenix, the Georgia Public Relations Society of America's Hall of Fame.
His professional memberships include The Counselors Academy of the Public Relations Society of America, the Atlanta Press Club, and the Georgia Press Association.
Active in civic affairs, he is a past chairman of the Partners of the Americas, Inc., Washington, D.C., and serves on the advisory board of the Georgia Council for International Visitors. He is a member of Leadership Atlanta and has served as a member of the Metropolitan Atlanta United Way Campaign Cabinet and the advisory board of the University of Georgia's College of Journalism and Mass Communication.
He currently serves on the communications committees of the American Red Cross (Atlanta Chapter) and the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation.
